What is vascular disease?

Vascular diseases are those that affect the arteries, veins, or lymphatics. Arteries deliver oxygenated blood and nutrients to tissues and organs. Veins return the used blood and metabolic waste products to the heart and lungs. Lymph channels return clear fluid filtered by our tissues to the central veins. Together the arteries, veins, and lymphatics comprise the circulatory system. A wide variety of diseases can affect the circulatory system and you have probably heard of some of them.  For example you or someone you know may have varicose veins, carotid artery blockage, PAD, aortic aneurysm (AAA), or deep venous thrombosis (DVT). Dr. Tapper can sort through whatever circulation issues you have, pinpoint the main issue, and prescribe the correct treatment for you. The fact that he is board certified in vascular surgery means that you can be confident he has the highest qualifications. Our website can help you understand some aspects of vascular disease, but a visit with Dr. Tapper can change your life.
